First Week of 2019!

Catherine and the students in Room 10 had a busy two days this week.  We were getting to know each other and where things are in our new classroom and school.  We only have one new student in our class so far and that is Isaac. Welcome Isaac - it's great to have you in our class.

After Positive Assembly on Friday we had a swim in the school pool.  Muhammad was quite sure he was not going to have a swim. After watching everyone else in the class having so much fun in the water, Catherine suggested he take his sweatshirt off and splash his hands in the water.  Muhammad decided instead to dip his head into the pool!  We're pretty sure he will be in the pool when it is our next swimming lesson.  Please remember to bring your swimming things everyday.  If it isn't our day for a swimming lesson, there will be an opportunity to have a swim at lunchtime.

Is it Cheese? - Paneer Cheese

SCIENCE! - Is it cheese?

We recently did an experiment where we mixed milk and lemon juice together and watched it turn into curds and whey.
During the making process room 10 had a lot of predictions about what we might be making, with only a few guessing correctly that we were making cheese!!

Questions we would like to find out:

- Can the milk curdle by itself?
- How long does it take milk to expire and curdle?
- Does the milk need heat to curdle?
- Does all cheese need acidity to curdle?
- Was it curd or cheese first?

Big Ball Skills!

Here is a sneak peak of our project energise session with Jono. We are practising our big ball skills!

Inquiry Questions

This term we are exploring everything to do with water!
Room 10 has come up with their own questions about water, particularly focusing on how we can make a difference to the water cycle in whatever area we choose.
Our aim is to develop a social action and see what kind of difference we can make!

Haiku Poetry

Kia Ora! Here's another update from what we've been up to in room 10!  This time it's about our writing - we've written Hai...
