Kete Aronui 2019

Room 10 were very lucky to have Whaea Arna working with us during term 2.  She taught us all about harakeke and how to harvest it.  We learnt not to step over the flax, not to eat while weaving, to say a karakia before weaving, and to always wash our hands after we have been weaving.

We learnt how to weave paper, how to plait (3 and 4 string plaits), and then moved on to using harakeke to create pieces of art for our Art Festival.  Here are the finished products, plus some other creations that some of us made.

  1. We enjoyed looking at the amazing art work you guys have done. It would be cool if you guys tried making a carving of a hook. Makayla & Emiliana
